Feeling the heat

Full time work and full time study is fcuking no joke. I have assignments already out due in August.

Had macro-econ classes today, and it looks so much more balanced compared to the homogenous crowd I had in my IT module classes. Boy, the lecturer came in and started delving straight into the subject, no introduction, no prelude, yes straight to the chapter and concluded it in 2 hours.

For the first time in my life, I really paid an accelerated 200% attention in that 2hours timeframe. I got zilch biz background so I was really really struggling through, writing as fast as I could and simultaneously trying to comprehend word for word what the lecturer was babbling; and for the nth time I stood out yet again when he posed me a question(I wonder why its me) and Im the only non-biz student taking a biz module.

2006 must be stand-out year for me...
I stood out in CHIJ for the good and bad things.
I also stood out in HP because of me, the higher management knows my awesome name for mostly good reasons I believe ha.
And now in school.

Who says navy life exciting? I think my current lifestyle can be comparable...
I cant wait to watch The Lake House. I do enjoy watching a love flick, it does show u the lighter, emotional side of life, appreciating the finer things in in what we called a complicated entity known as love.

Oh any Emilee Kang is out? I thought she was a hottie though :)
My mom cannot stand Paul Twohill and so does Annabelle. One day she was asking me, "Hey mark, did u catch sg idol yest? Oh god, I cannot stand him! His hair, his face eewww. I totally dislike him! but i like you!". Awww how sweeet! haha. I think Richard's gay but I never dared to ask him, think I will ask Anna in private one day since they're so close.

Anyway Paul is a decent guy at least to me. I got the vibe that he was the down-to-earth sort despite his flamboyant, emo hairstyle when I met him at the auditions when Elsa introduced him to me back in Feb. Funny he got IN and she got OUT.

Life's such. Sometimes when faced with tribulations and there's nothing you can do about it, people present you with the cliche, ever famous army lame phrase(the lewd version), "suck your own cock."

Sometimes you wish you could but in reality you cant. So how?

I just wanted to say

I love playing soccer in school with the IJ girls because I feel like Zidane or *insert some random legend* on the field.

One of those moments:

"Hey you, go away from me!" *I Snatch the ball and scores*

"Thanks man". *chuckles*

"HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!"

HEH.

For the first time since 2.5 years,

I attended class.
For one moment I thought i was in a gay club.
Secondly, I dont know why the lecturer loves asking me questions. Everytime he posts a question and no one wants to reply him or they dont know, he will look at me with the yo-come-on-babe-i-know-you-know-the-answer look.
Hey what the fuck, Im seeing him again tomorrow! And thanks to him, im now known as Mr-Know-It-All.

Saturday Stay-In

Today wasnt so bad. Read up a lot online. I have to admit that as a net savvy person, it is considered embarrassing to announce that only today 15/07/06 that I really got to understand the true meaning behind technorati's tag.

Haven't you read sites that usually have techorati tags saying blah blah and all that. Yeap, its supposed to categorise all these posts so they can be tracked for users who want to read news specifically pertaining to that category per se.

I actually have a new blog layout but I'm quite lazy to post it up. A cursory glance on this webby of mine would probably tell you how shoddy looking it is. Yes, you can see its a result of a slipshod work by a very lazy blogger.

But truth be told, I do have better things to do.
  1. I'm practicing my ball game on the field with some of the teachers.
  2. I'm building and learning php and .net applications.
  3. Knowledge is power indeed; a daily routine in the morning at work include tuning into my rss feeds. A grand total of 10 worthy reads excluding sites that do not support rss.
  4. Preparation for studies with Monash@TMC, guess its good bye SMU.
  5. Daydreaming and sleeping.
I wonder why people are so hush hush about their future plans? Its like as if someone like me is going to jump onto the same bandwagon and exploit an anomaly in the system to gain an advantage before you.

I so happened to know one BMT mate who was doing the very same distance learning path as I am. He was very bashful indeed, evading some of my mundane questions like, "so how's the lecturers?" and started being a wet blanket and denouncing how bad IT is, and that he might switch to business instead. Right

He's the kind who believes fervently in Robert T. Kiyosaki, so much so if Robert told him to stay put when mired in a quicksand, there's a high percentage(A percentage higher than 66.6% though) that he would stay put gullibly. That famed fugged book is fundamentally flawed(debatable), google about it if you're interested. Plenty of interesting discursive debates.

IT may be placed in the lower rungs of the work field as depicted by reports but ironically it drives today's world. It is quite saddening to know how the general consensus view IT on the whole. Just because computers are easy to use, it speaks the same for everything else IT. The bigger picture which seems to elude the ignorant crowd is that the backend is very much complicated. Just one simple processing of a page does take up so much lines of codes.

I guess it truely takes one who has been in the know-how to know how exactly it feels like. IT conveniently is equated to "outsourcing", "indians". I guess thats how a noble profession(I would like to think it that way) has degraded to such a state.

It would require the same effort made by leading economist to analyse the economy to write an excellent application by a likewise good programmer. Both can be considered to be in the same intellectual capacity, only to be demarcated by different fields.

People say IT is a sunset industry, and then you start recalling that it drives today's world. And then you realise, the very same people are still doing IT. Which brings forward to this hypothesis - Why do people still get entrapped despite knowing it's a dead end? Its like saying why bother living when you're still going to die at the end of the day?

And I know another interesting fella from poly who is into MLM err I mean networking marketing. That sacred word is taboo to the zealous one whom he can conveniently lump Microsoft into his arguments, drawing along the parallels that his president had a vision akin to bill gates and that those who supported him(bill gates) became millionaires.

I nearly wet my boxers while reading that over msn because I was laughing so hard because to anyone with cow sense, the whole analogy in its entirety is ludicrous.

This poly mate of mine conveniently equates microsoft's vision to pure marketing, which was what brought MS today. Well partially true, but it was the ingenuity of bill gates who created the platform that has evolved today that was the key ingredient. Marketing just acted as the catalyst. Even if it wasn't adopted, it was only a matter of time.

So what does his company have to show for? Running a shoddy e-bay-like portal and providing educational courses as a front masking any sinister policies at work if any, run by a bunch of kids ranging from as early as 16 to 30.

One thing that was synonymous in the 'debate' was that Gates was a dropout and there were people in the company that were dropouts too but the question at large was, "were they in the same intellectual league as Gates?". Gates dropped out because education was impeding his very ambitious ambition back then. These kids dropped out because they really screwed up; no offence.

When you do a wiki on MLM, (I would like to think that the word wiki would too become a verb in the dictionary just as google has become), and that people who have dwelled long enough in the MLM business, they either become oblivious or indoctrinated by the poison by the man who's probably going to have the last laugh aka the chairman which no surprised is worshipped and held in high regard when he folds up the company when he has hit his profit quota.

With that said, I dont think I need to be hush about my future plans because I hope to ace my degree, do honours and work towards a career in the audit industry. So much for the cheap talk, I guess only the transcript will validate everything.

I guess SJI's famous latin motto should be embraced - ora et labora .

Zidane's showcases one his repetoire - Shaolin HeadButt

Materazzi is one big arsehole. It is more or less confirmed that he provoked Zidane and apparently insulted him badly that led to the disgraceful act.

If you watch the video carefully, after tugging zizou's shirt, zizou annoyingly told him "if you so want my shirt badly, ill give it you after the game." Then Materazzi made some sarcastic comments and probably pushed it further, resulting in the infamous headbutt which will be remembered for sometime.

AND why all the footballers willing to act so gu niang just to get a cheap advantage?

Italiano Night

Italy beat France 5-3 on penalties to win the 2006 world cup.
Everyone thought France might win with the legendary old farts like Thuram and Zidane, Makelele.
Guess too much spotlight was on Zidane's finale game but it eluded most people including myself that the current Italy squad comprised of legendary old farts in it too.

A shocking look at the entire squad list of both finalists could nearly make up half squad of the past and present Juventus. They were one of the best and greatly feared back then, you can only see the list of players that graced the team back then and understand why.

  • Angelo Peruzzi at 36 during his prime was solid as a rock when he was at Buffon's peak for Juventus deputising as Italy's No. 2

  • Lilian Thuram was playing left back for Juventus. Fucking solid as ever even at age 34.

  • Gianluca Zambrotta was left wing for Juventus, always sizzling down the flanks and still do after so many years though he was coverted to right back.

  • Zinedine Zidane was god for Juventus in 98 as a playmaker. It was no wonder he and Didier Deschamps (also a Juventus player who was excellent dictating the centre of the park) went on to inspire France and thumped Brazil out of the 1998 finals.

  • Alessandro Del Piero, the all time Juventus top scorer, though playing a bit part role for Italy still played a part in Italy's build up to the finals. Who cant forget his second goal against Germany in the semi's? His expertly taken right foot chip which went pass Lehmann which sealed the Germans' exit.

  • Filipo Inzaghi aka 'Pippo' was Del Piero's striking partner back in the 90s. They were akin to Man Utd's Dwight and Andy Cole back the 99 hey-days. Exceled as a lone striker whom he moved to AC later on where he became overshadowed by Svechenvko.

  • Fabio Cannavaro, aruguably the world's finest centre back. Yes even John Terry doesnt come close. At 33, he's been a rock in the heart of the defence and his interceptions against France's bore testamounts to it. He reads the game very well and especially with Buffon marshalling the posts has conceded only 2 goals; an own goal and a pen by Zidane.

  • Coach Marcelo Lippi, the Juventus coach back then, it was no wonder he drafted his old team back in the Italy's squad. One hell of a coach; he was won serie A titles, the champions' league and now world cup.
Their ages hover around 31-36 with the exception of the coach. 2006 finals was a very memorable one because of the old school kick ass players were gracing the finals whilst in their twilight years of their careers.

Chasing a lost cause

Maybe it should have been given up when the friendship turned sour.
Even if it was a disillusion right from the get-go, but it did give hope, which was worth clinging on to, worth looking forward to it, worth fighting for.

Somehow one day we might just sit down on a dinner table during a quiet evening flanked by fellow diners and lament how much we have aged, and if I have a new 'dad' or you have a new 'daughter-in-law'.

I may have made that social faux pas, but on hindsight, it was for the greater good that I did. At least I was remembered for it.

Been a while

Been catching world cup and enjoying my slack days at work. Timmy lee is back from perth. Havent seen that bugger in 5 months.

Knew him since K1 and boy thats like 19 years already. Stupid arse shot into some cunt and now his bitch might be pregnant. I told him I'll be honoured to be his bestman in the male nubile age range but not at 22.

Anyway, to the point, attended his so called his welcome back bbq at his place. And boy have we realised how much we have aged. His dad and mom looks older. His granny back then was still hyperactive, swearing like nobody's business, only to be bedridden and toned down.

Met up with Aikhow and Hanrong. Haven't seen these buggers for a while. My first encounter with them was in secondary school through Timmy(They were classmates). Caught up, talk some cock and commenting how jude Tim's younger cousin was.

Her mom aka his auntie was like 'interviewing' me during a mahjong session. It was funny though her dad looked god damn stern. I mean dude, i wasn't even tackling your daughter and besides any guy would think twice because he's like the passport to his beloved daughter, so cut me some slack.

Cool, I finally learned how to play mahjong amatuerly. But its much clearer compared to how Mingjie taught me.
