Fate

What is fate? Is it some kind of paradox? Or was it a hypothesis that was formulated to give hope amidst failure? Or perhaps it was what theists use in their connotations against atheists.

As defined in our dear dictionary.com as;
1. The supposed force, principle, or power that predetermines events.

So who controls this force? Oh i know some theists will say God, atheists will say some thing otherwise. Seriously God knows!

My parents went to see this Indian medium twice in their lifetime. During the first visit, they were told, one day, they will move and stay in a bigger house. My parents were like, "right...". They could never imagine themselves staying in a much bigger house, especially when they were repaying loans like crazy horses for the 5-Room apartment. They just laughed it off. Years later, we moved.

To a bigger house; a maisonette.

Second time, they went again asking about the family's well being. Apart from the usual advices, mine stood out. He knew I was dating someone(Jiawei) back then. So he told my parents that the girl that I was dating wasnt a good girl and that we wouldnt last long. Again, my parents were like, "Nah, that's impossible, she's such a darling". My whole family liked her you see.

True enough, we broke up just before I was enlisted into the Army. It was an unforgettable 2.5 years relationship.

Finally, my parents realised that the Indian medium was very accurate, so they decided to see him for the third time to sought his wise advice on certain aspects. The old medium passed away a month ago, when they made that fateful call to seek an audience with him.

You could visualise my expression when my mom related this to me after all this. I was like what the fuck to myself.

Funny how things work out; my parents always took his words with a pinch of salt, laughing it off at times when it seemed not plausible. Now when they decide to take him 100% seriously, he is gone.

Its also funny how my family have unusually strong ties with Indians. My mom's best friend is an Indian, one of the son's best buddies coincidentally is an Indian too.

So was this a like prime example of fate? I was destined to stay in a bigger house, lose a girl that I thought perhaps she was the One. If I'm going to believe that old man's parting words for this one and only last time, then I'm probably also destined to make it somewhere in life if I worked hard and meet someone nicer along the way.
