LOL

What type of singaporean are u?

So, you criticise the judiciary, you are SCANDALISING it.

You criticise PAP leaders (for eg. SDP), you are DEFAMING them.

You criticise the govt, you are DISLOYAL.

You migrate, you are a QUITTER.

You ask about the govt reserves & investment, you can not know cos it's NATIONAL SECURITY.

You ask for press freedom, you are a WESTERN LIBERAL.

You ask for more attention to mandarin teaching in schools, you are a CHINESE CHAUVINIST.

You travel overseas to talk to Int'l Organisations (for eg. CSJ), you are a TRAITOR.

You ask for more help to be given to the poor, you are BANKRUPTING Singapore.

BUT if you join the PAP, you are an ELITE right at the top of the list of RIGHTEOUS MEN. -

Uniquely Singapore.

A typical mundane week

Its basically home->work->home and repeat.

Things have been going on pretty well, I've been tasked to do an Inventory System so most of my time is coding and learning while taking tea breaks or sleep.

And if all goes well, I may end up as a freelance writer for gameaxis.com. Credits to Kenneth who made the effort to speak to the head editor; appreciate it. I'm looking at one of the several games where I can write a sample review for consideration. I really enjoy writing but I do not see it as a full-time profession but would relish the opportunity hone my writing ability and take it to the next level where my entries are judged by the public as considerations rather than rants that are posted in forums.

My brush with writing came last year during the infamous blogging saga which resulted in three farts writing a memoir for our platoon which i oversaw. It was very successful; Everyone loved it albeit the many grammatical mistakes that came along with it.

Johnny told me dictating your own job scope is a powerful tool and powerful it is indeed. You can specify your own job duties and feel totally unrestrained. It doesnt feel like work sometimes, believe me.

Fate

What is fate? Is it some kind of paradox? Or was it a hypothesis that was formulated to give hope amidst failure? Or perhaps it was what theists use in their connotations against atheists.

As defined in our dear dictionary.com as;
1. The supposed force, principle, or power that predetermines events.

So who controls this force? Oh i know some theists will say God, atheists will say some thing otherwise. Seriously God knows!

My parents went to see this Indian medium twice in their lifetime. During the first visit, they were told, one day, they will move and stay in a bigger house. My parents were like, "right...". They could never imagine themselves staying in a much bigger house, especially when they were repaying loans like crazy horses for the 5-Room apartment. They just laughed it off. Years later, we moved.

To a bigger house; a maisonette.

Second time, they went again asking about the family's well being. Apart from the usual advices, mine stood out. He knew I was dating someone(Jiawei) back then. So he told my parents that the girl that I was dating wasnt a good girl and that we wouldnt last long. Again, my parents were like, "Nah, that's impossible, she's such a darling". My whole family liked her you see.

True enough, we broke up just before I was enlisted into the Army. It was an unforgettable 2.5 years relationship.

Finally, my parents realised that the Indian medium was very accurate, so they decided to see him for the third time to sought his wise advice on certain aspects. The old medium passed away a month ago, when they made that fateful call to seek an audience with him.

You could visualise my expression when my mom related this to me after all this. I was like what the fuck to myself.

Funny how things work out; my parents always took his words with a pinch of salt, laughing it off at times when it seemed not plausible. Now when they decide to take him 100% seriously, he is gone.

Its also funny how my family have unusually strong ties with Indians. My mom's best friend is an Indian, one of the son's best buddies coincidentally is an Indian too.

So was this a like prime example of fate? I was destined to stay in a bigger house, lose a girl that I thought perhaps she was the One. If I'm going to believe that old man's parting words for this one and only last time, then I'm probably also destined to make it somewhere in life if I worked hard and meet someone nicer along the way.

Techy Stuff

Finally did a re-format on my computer. I just couldnt wait, wait till Vista that is; the new windows slated for this third quarter.

I had to anyway, Im on a project to program an inventory system for the school, hence i better made sure my computer was in sync! God damn, i hated the interface of the program the school bought and Paul was complaining to me, and finally I said ok, lets ask Janny up here. Up she came, and we told her how unfriendly it was and how perhaps i could rewrite it from scratch to suit the school's needs.

Lets say .NET is quite the bitch. The transition from asp to php was seamless, but not from asp to asp.net. It takes a while to swallow it down, especially when you're so used to the old asp. But I must admit its seemingly easier to code, its more dynamic and more object oriented. Its like for paging database records, I had to write an algorithm for it and now its like *snap* just include a paging property control in the datagrid.

ASP is like really history now, PHP is surviving because its open sourced and it taxes less on the servers. I mean who the hell trusts Microsoft haha. So embrace PHP/.NET, the web technology of the 21st century.

I cant believe Janny paid 2k for that cheebye useless program! I hope she pays me decently :P

A ; a

Had a smashing saturday at Aki's house; we had BBQ.
Had a creative sunday at home; was designing the new template for this blog.
Had a good night sleep; Man u beat ARSEnal 2-0. Goals from Rooney and Park sealed the win. Awesome! Man u are officially the form team for now with 9 wins in a row. We just need to maintain that form and beat Chelski at Stamford Bridge and hope they fuck up along the way. It will be a close fight though Man u probably wont win the title but they will make Chelsea sweat for it.

Had a flabbergasted sunday night; Carol Cheong was crowned Miss Singapore 2006. Like what the fuck, she's quite the no brainer, no wits, no eloquence, I mean Im not expecting her to be dialectic, but at least answer question A with A instead of B!

Well we all know why she won - ( . )( . )

Extreme Makeover

Spent half a day, designing and then porting over. My god, I havent done web paging since 2003, and 3 years later, it has evolved so fast especially CSS.

Lots of things left to be done like, styling the sheets, linking, iframes, minor touch ups. I quite like it. A very clean and simple look!

Screw ready made blogskins! HAHA.

Wicked

An online puzzle well thought out by this high IQ 18 year old old called weikiat. Its fucking wicked indeed.

It has 41 levels to date and the furthest, one has gone is apparently level 38. This is subjected to change as puzzle fanatics are have a go at it.

I powered myself to level 34 in a span of like 6-7 hours yesterday. Yes staring perpetually at the damn screen albeit with some hints.

I decide to give up. I even dreamt of that last night! WTF; Im schizo.
